Fiona Campbell teaches Kids Knit classes in the Cramond and Blackhall areas of Edinburgh. She recently shared some photos of one of her young student’s knitting projects and we were so impressed that we thought you’d like to see them too!  Say hello to Morven!

Tell us bit about yourself Morven, how old are you and what school do you go to?

I go to Blackhall primary school and I’m ten years old. I love art, reading and of course I love knitting. Other than my Kids Knit class, I do gymnastics and I go to a club called Relax Kids.

What are your favourite foods and what kinds of things do you like to do in your spare time?

My favourite food is noodles and I love pasta with pesto.  In my spare time I like to read, draw and watch Harry Potter.  My favourite Harry Potter film is “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”.

What would you like to be when you grow up?

When I grow up I would like to do something that involves helping other children who maybe need a little bit extra help because I like helping my little brother.

Why did you want to learn to knit?

I wanted to learn to knit because for my seventh birthday I got a knitting for beginners set and I really enjoyed doing it so I wanted to carry on and do some more complex things.

What is the best thing about knitting?

I think the best thing about knitting is that you can make things that are yours and they’re unique and you can change them in any way you like.

What is the most challenging knitting skill you’ve learned?

I would say the most challenging knitting skill I have learned would have to be knitting front and back which I had to use in my Mini Mee.

What do you enjoy most about Fiona’s Kids Knit classes?

I enjoy the friendly environment in Fiona‘s Kids Knit classes.

We are very impressed by your Minnie Mee doll – please tell us all about it!  How long did it take to knit it and what accessories have you made for her?

My Minnie Mee all took about six months to complete and I have made for her a scarf, a coat, two dresses and a hair braid.  I call her Minnie Mo.

What are going to knit next?

Next I’m going to knit a Mini Mee doll for my friend because she loved mine so much and she likes to make clothes.  So I’m making a Mini Mee doll for her and she’s going to make some clothes for mine.

Thank you very much indeed Morven!
