Rowan is our favourite brand of yarn here at Knitting For All – in case you hadn’t noticed already!
Rowan was founded in 1978 by Yorkshire men, Stephen Sheard and Simon Cocklin and soon became an international hand knit yarn brand, focusing on high end, design-led yarns. This year Rowan is celebrating it’s 40th Anniversary and I was delighted to be invited along to a celebration and opening of a retrospective exhibition in London.
On display were some iconic designs from across the years and we were also treated to an informal fashion show.
Many of Rowan’s designers were there, both past and present and I was excited to mingle with the likes of Sasha Kagan, Sandy Black, Lisa Richardson, Dee Hardwick, Kaffe Fassett, Brendon Mably and Martin Storey.
It was also rather lovely to catch up with my good friend Addy, Rowan’s Account Manager for Knitting For All. Here we are pictured together below.
A beautifully delicious red velvet cake was ceremonially cut by Kaffe Fasset and Stephen Sheard.
Congratulations to Rowan on a colourful, ground-breaking and boundary-busting first 40 years from everyone at Knitting For All. We are very much looking forward to the next 40!
